What should be done if someone’s
- passport
- identity card
- driving licence
- address card
has been lost, stolen or destroyed?
She/he is obliged to report it immediately, but not later than three working days from becoming aware of the fact to any of the
- Document Offices
- consular officers at missions abroad
- Stolen documents can be reported at the police stations as well.
Staying abroad a copy of the report must be presented to the consular officer.
Based on the report the fact of loss, theft, destruction of a document shall be recorded in the appropriate register, from which – excepting the address card – a prompt alert will be placed in the Schengen Information System (SIS)
What should be done if a document assumed to be
- lost or
- stolen
is found after reporting?
Any of the Document Offices or consular officers at missions abroad should be notified within three working days from its turn-up.
Based on the report the fact of finding the document shall be recorded in the appropriate register and accordingly the alert will be automatically cancelled from the Schengen Information System (SIS).
