Biometric passport (e-passport)

From 29th August 2006 Hungary has been issuing e-passports containing a chip with digital facial image of the passport holder. From 28th June 2009 the chip contains the digital fingerprints of the passport holder as well.
The Central Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services, as the e-passport issuer authority, carries out the personalization of passports and the data upload to the chip including the facial image and fingerprints of the passport holder as biometric identifiers. By its separate and independent departments the Central Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services also acts as national Document Signer Authority (DS) and as Country Signing Certificate Authority (CSCA) as well as Country Verifying Certificate Authority (CVCA) and as national Document Verifier Authority (DV).
